Working on some posts
On technology regulation, notes for the next book on the government of Wales, and more archive material.
I’ve had a busy couple of months teaching, starting determined research for the next book, and travelling, but I have a couple of posts planned in the next couple of weeks.
The first is likely to be on technology regulation, commenting on recent court cases in the US and other developments that illustrate my general theme, which I’ve been writing about for several years in academic papers, that technology regulation is a process not a legal text.
The second will be a look back at some earlier writing on the development of the devolved government in Wales which is still, I think, relevant today, but sometimes gets overlooked.
I have been delving further into the Welsh Government and UK government archives and I may have some more to add from these. I also need to cover the Welsh Government Cabinet Minutes for 2010 and after.
I’m not planning to say much about the forthcoming Welsh Parliament election, simply because plenty of other intelligent people are doing that and I don’t intend to become a commentator. I’ve already turned down media opportunities on the day the votes are counted, as well as other slots. I may write however something about the way higher education issues are being adddressed, and I may, after the election, have some advice for the new government. Since May will be ten years since I lost my Assembly seat I may also have something to say for those likely to be leaving the Senedd this time round.
Can I welcome the many new subscribers who have signed up over the last couple of months and apologise for the absence of posting. Normal service will soon be resumed!

Glad to get this, Leighton, and to know that you are continuing to teach, write and consult. I'm not doing much teaching these days, but have finished my book on Anglo-Hungarian History (Medieval) and have recently posted on the Orbán governments on Wordpress.
